Xircle Talent seeks an experienced Project Engineer for Malaysia data centre projects, overseeing end-to-end lifecycle from design coordination to on-site execution and handover. You will ensure schedules, budgets, and quality meet stringent standards while maintaining rigorous safety protocols.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in data centre or MEP construction, with strong BIM/AutoCAD knowledge, and the ability to manage subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams on-site.

Qualificações

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Five+ years of project engineering experience in data centre, mission-critical, or MEP construction environments.
• Hands-on site experience with data centre infrastructure (cooling, power distribution, or structural works).
• Experience in managing subcontractors and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with Malaysian construction regulations and safety standards.
• Strong grasp of data centre MEP systems and construction sequencing.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Project, and AutoCAD; BIM/Revit is a plus.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsabilidades

• Direct the installation and commissioning phases of data centre projects from mobilization to handover.
• Maintain comprehensive project schedules, monitor critical paths, and manage risks to keep delivery on track.
• Review technical documentation with internal design staff and resolve discrepancies via RFIs and clarifications.
• Oversee submission and approval of shop drawings, material samples, method statements, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate across mechanical, electrical, architectural, and structural disciplines for seamless integration.
• Supervise subcontractor performance on-site ensuring alignment with specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure EHS compliance and workmanship quality.
• Act as liaison with clients and consultants on project status, queries, and progress updates.
• Manage site logistics including access control and material delivery scheduling.
• Develop testing and commissioning protocols and coordinate FAT, SAT, IST testing.
• Prepare and finalize handover documentation including as-built drawings and O&M manuals.
• Monitor project financials and provide status reports, flagting budget variances.
• Identify work outside scope and document variation orders.

About Our Client

Our client is a Malaysian SME established in 2021 that specializes in mechanical, electrical, and process (MEP) construction services, primarily serving the manufacturing sector across Malaysia and Indonesia.

Job Summary

This role oversees the complete lifecycle of data centre build-outs and fit-out projects within Malaysia, focusing on the integration of mechanical, electrical, and structural systems. You will drive on-site execution to ensure all works meet strict timelines, budgetary constraints, and quality benchmarks while maintaining rigorous safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the installation and commissioning phases of data centre projects, managing the workflow from initial mobilization through to final handover.
• Maintain comprehensive project schedules, actively monitoring critical path items, dependencies, and potential schedule risks to keep delivery on track.
• Liaise with internal design staff to review technical documentation, resolving any discrepancies via RFIs and clarifications to prevent construction errors.
• Oversee the submission and approval processes for shop drawings, material samples, method statements, and risk assessments.
• Ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, architectural, and structural systems by coordinating across all relevant disciplines.
• Supervise subcontractor performance on-site, verifying that all work aligns with approved specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
• Perform regular site inspections and audits to confirm adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and workmanship quality.
• Serve as the primary liaison for clients and consultants regarding project status, technical queries, and progress updates.
• Manage site logistics, including access control and material delivery scheduling, to facilitate smooth construction operations.
• Develop testing and commissioning protocols and coordinate their execution on-site.
• Facilitate Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and Integrated System Testing (IST) to validate system performance.
• Assemble and finalize all necessary handover documentation, including as-built drawings and operation and maintenance manuals.
• Monitor project financials and progress, providing regular status reports to management and clients while flagging any budget variances.
• Identify work falling outside the original scope and support the documentation of variation orders.

Requirements

• Hold a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Possess at least five years of project engineering experience within data centre, mission-critical, or M&E construction environments.
• Demonstrate hands-on site experience with data centre infrastructure, specifically in cooling systems, power distribution, or structural works.
• Have a track record of managing subcontractors and coordinating multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Be familiar with Malaysian construction regulations and safety standards.
• Possess a strong grasp of data centre MEP systems and construction sequencing.
• Be proficient in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
• Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project, and AutoCAD, with experience in BIM/Revit being a plus.
• Exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across concurrent projects.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities, with the confidence to interface with clients and consultants.
