Kuching Specialist Hospital is seeking dedicated nursing professionals to provide individualized holistic care in our Emergency Services unit. The role involves assisting doctors, conducting patient assessments, and participating in emergency interventions and transfers.
The ideal candidate should be skilled in various clinical procedures including wound dressing and ECG. This position requires commitment to standard care and collaboration with medical staff, ensuring patient safety and well-being at all times.
ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT Understands and carries out the duty of care in line with the Vision and Mission Statements, Goals and Objectives within the scope of Emergency Services. Works shift duties or as assigned by Unit Manager and Medical Officer In-Charge according to service’s operational hours. Informs Unit Manager and Medical officer In-Charge when change occurs in circumstances which affect standards of care. Receives and handover report of patient, knows the case in detail: Progress of the patient. Ensures all Doctors’ orders are carried out before shift change and on taking over case. Any incident or problems encountered. Visits every patient in the unit together with the team members on taking over of duties to: Assess condition of patient, compare with report. Re-plan nursing care according to assessment or evaluation Determines nursing priorities and plans patient care according to patient’s needs and staff availability Assist Doctors during examination, procedures and emergency interventions. Assist in resuscitation and emergency stabilization of patients. Participate in ambulance transfer and escort duties when required. Assist in disaster preparedness and mass casualty management. Provides individualized holistic care to patients with proper and contemporaneous documentation in patient files. Perform clinical procedures such as wound dressing, ECG, venepuncture, IV cannulation, suctioning, catheterization and specimen collection. Reports all abnormal findings and progress of patients to the relevant doctors / consultants. Conducts regular rounds on all patients in the zone to ascertain for other additional needs; talk to patient/family members as an integral part of providing emotional support. Carries out orders of Doctors / Consultants pertaining to care of patients and delegates to other team members according to their assignments. Attending Ambulance cases of transfer in and transfer out of patient safely to/from other healthcare services when required. Assist Unit Manager to overseeing the smooth running of A&E Services. Conduct initial assessment or triaging of patient before assigning patient to the appropriate zone.
