Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for mechanical components or support other sourcing parts.
Maintain supplier performance and expand sourcing options for both standard and non-standard components.
Coordinate with internal functions to gather supplier feedback and address service-related issues.
Assist in the preparation and execution of supplier audits, in collaboration with Supplier Quality and cross-functional teams.
Ensure supplier activities meet applicable regulatory and customer-specific requirements (e.g., RoHS, REACH, export controls).
Support material shortage resolutions and support during procurement team upgrades or transitions.
Support all sourcing-related activities during New Product Introduction (NPI), including early supplier engagement, quote consolidation, and sourcing of prototype and pilot build parts.
Manage procurement of mechanical components required for NPI builds, ensuring timely delivery and cost competitiveness.
Monitor and control material inventory levels throughout the NPI phase, ensuring alignment with build schedules and avoiding shortages or excess.
Review and interpret customer mechanical drawings.
Align supplier understanding of technical requirements with internal engineering and quality teams.
Work with global sourcing counterparts to align strategies, share supplier performance data, and support commodity-level initiatives.
Participate in quarterly business reviews with key global suppliers to drive continuous improvement across cost, quality, delivery, and cooperation.
Support cost-down initiatives by identifying alternative suppliers, materials, or manufacturing processes.
Request and evaluate supplier quotations, conduct price benchmarking and negotiations with suppliers.
Conduct should-cost analysis and support internal team with cost estimates for RFQs and NPI projects.
Assist in setting up annual sourcing KPIs and developing the Site Sourcing Plan.
Responsible for sourcing-related KPI reporting and daily report control; analyze trends and propose corrective actions to ensure annual KPI targets are met.
Perform other related duties and ad-hoc assignments as requested by management.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Sourcing Mechanical Engineering, preferably in the EMS industry.
Strong knowledge of mechanical categories (e.g., metal, plastic, die-casting, stamping) and sourcing channels.
Good understanding and rich knowledge of the mechanical category and sourcing channels.
Proven strategic thinking and analytical skills.
Preference will be given to candidates with an established mechanical supplier base in Malaysia.
Skilled in supplier negotiation, cost breakdown analysis, and price benchmarking.
Able to work independently and coordinate with global and cross-functional teams.
Proactive, self-driven, and excellent at troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both verbal and written.
