Job summary

Horizontal Talent is seeking an experienced Mechanical Resident Engineer to oversee mechanical works on construction projects in Serendah, Selangor. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering or construction/site supervision.
• Experience in building services projects (commercial, hospitals, high-rise or infrastructure).
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, plumbing & sanitary, and fire protection systems.
• Familiar with testing & commissioning procedures and local authorities.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise mechanical installation works on construction sites.
• Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Monitor HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, sanitary, fire protection and equipment.
• Review shop drawings, material submissions and technical documents.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure quality workmanship.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants and other disciplines to resolve issues.
• Witness testing and commissioning of mechanical systems.
• Monitor project progress and prepare site inspection reports.
• Ensure safety regulatory compliance and project standards.
• Support project handover with as-built drawings and O&M docs.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise mechanical installation works on construction sites.
• Ensure works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Monitor installation of HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, sanitary, fire protection, and mechanical equipment.
• Review shop drawings, material submissions, and technical documents.
• Conduct site inspections and ensure quality workmanship.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and other engineering disciplines to resolve site issues.
• Witness testing and commissioning of mechanical systems.
• Monitor project progress and prepare site inspection reports.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and project standards.
• Support project handover by reviewing as-built drawings and operation & maintenance documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering or construction/site supervision.
• Experience in building services projects such as commercial buildings, hospitals, high-rise developments, or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of:

• Familiar with testing & commissioning procedures and local authority requirements.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working as a Resident Engineer or Site Supervisor.
• Familiarity with QA/QC processes and contractor management.
• Strong understanding of construction site safety and compliance.
