Job summary

AECOM in Malaysia is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to design and coordinate mechanical services for major infrastructure projects including metro/rail and data centers. You will lead BIM coordination, ensure compliance with codes, and deliver designs across buildings, healthcare facilities, and transportation-specific projects.

The role requires a degree in mechanical engineering, 5+ years in design consultancy, and strong analytical and writing skills.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant design consultancy experience in mechanical engineering with Metro/LRT/MRT, rail or road tunnels, data center, hospitals or buildings projects.
• Registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and professional engineer status preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Understanding of sustainable design practices and their application in mechanical engineering.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with BIM at Levels of Development (LODs) 200–400.
• Familiarity with local and international building codes and submission procedures.
• Excellent communication and strong technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and coordinate mechanical services such as ACMV, Fire Protection and Detection, Plumbing, and Water Supply and Drainage.
• Ensure compliance with Building Services legislation and standards.
• Develop and implement mechanical building services designs.
• Conduct detailed analyses and calculations.
• Support preparation and review of mechanical design drawings.
• Coordinate across multiple projects simultaneously.
• Provide documentation for manuals and project deliverables.
• Collaborate with BIM coordinators to meet timescales and quality.
• Assist Project Managers during design, installation, commissioning and testing phases.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders as needed.
• Adhere to HSE and Quality policies.
• Develop relationships with technical consultants and suppliers.
• Participate in development of technical proposals.
