Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is seeking a Senior Engineer / Associate / Associate Director (Mechanical) to lead complex mechanical design projects from concept through delivery. You will work with the Technical Director, exercise independent engineering judgment, review designs, mentor engineers, and support business development while maintaining client relationships.

The role requires leadership across multidisciplinary teams, strong communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience for Senior Engineer; 10+ years for Associate/Associate Director with a strong PM track record.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering; PEPC status preferred.
• BIM experience is an advantage and beneficial for coordination.
• Proven leadership and mentoring abilities across engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex mechanical design projects from concept to delivery.
• Exercise independent engineering judgement to solve complex challenges.
• Review and approve design calculations, drawings, specs, and tender docs.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote technical excellence.
• Support business development, process improvements, and innovation.
• Maintain strong client relationships and ensure satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

As the Senior Engineer / Associate / Associate Director (Mechanical), your key responsibilities will include:

• Working closely with the Technical Director to lead and manage complex mechanical design projects from concept through to successful delivery.
• Exercising independent engineering judgement to solve complex challenges and overseeing multidisciplinary coordination.
• Reviewing and approving design calculations, technical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Supervising and mentoring junior engineers to promote technical excellence and continuous team development.
• Supporting the Technical Director in strategic business development, process improvements, and driving innovation.
• Maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

skills/requirements

• Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 8 years of experience for a Senior Engineer, or 10+ years for an Associate/Associate Director, with a strong track record in project management.
• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM); holding a Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (PEPC) status is highly preferred.
• Experience working with Building Information Modelling (BIM) is an advantage.
• Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and mentoring engineering teams.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent client relationship management and stakeholder coordination skills.
