Position: Mechanical Engineer - Pressure Vessels
Location: Negeri Sembilan
Salary Range : RM6000 - RM7999 (commensurate with experience)

Job description :
- Design, review, and verify pressure vessels in compliance with ASME Section VIII, API 510, and API 579.
- Perform mechanical design calculations including thickness, stress, and reinforcement requirements for vessels operating under high pressure and temperature.
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and fitness-for-service (FFS) assessments to ensure vessel safety and reliability.
- Review and approve fabrication drawings, welding procedures, and material selection for pressure vessels.
- Supervise fabrication, assembly, hydrostatic testing, and non-destructive testing (NDT) of pressure vessels.
- Carry out inspection, monitoring, and periodic certification of in-service pressure vessels to meet statutory and international requirements.
- Investigate and resolve mechanical failures, cracks, and corrosion issues in vessels, ensuring corrective and preventive measures are applied.
- Provide technical support during turnarounds, shutdowns, and vessel repair activities.
- Prepare and maintain pressure vessel documentation, including design files, inspection reports, and compliance records.
- Train and mentor junior/local engineers in pressure vessel engineering practices.
Minimum
- Diploma/Advanced Diploma/DKM/DLKM (Level 4/5) in Engineering or related field.
- 2+ years experience in pressure vessel design/inspection/fabrication within metal fabrication or manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII and API 510 / API 579.
- Ability to perform mechanical design calculations (thickness, stress, reinforcement) and review fabrication drawings.
- Familiar with FEA/FFS assessments, NDT methods, hydrostatic testing, welding procedures, and material selection.
- Strong documentation skills (design files, inspection reports, compliance records).
- Good communication and teamwork; able to support shutdowns/turnarounds when required.
Preferred (Added Advantage)
- Hands-on experience with tools such as PV Elite/Compress/ANSYS (or equivalent).
- Exposure to ASME IX, WPS/PQR review, and QA/QC processes.
- Certification(s): API 510, FFS (API 579), ASNT/PCN NDT Level II/III, or local competency (e.g., DOSH-related) — nice to have.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with fabrication/vendor teams.
