Job summary

A manufacturing company in Sabah is seeking a Mechanical Shift Engineer to oversee maintenance operations. You will be responsible for planning maintenance schedules, reporting daily activities, and coordinating with the head of section. The ideal candidate should have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, be proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia, and have experience in a manufacturing environment. Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Proficient in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Mechanical Shift Engineer

Steel Industries (Sabah) Sdn Bhd is an established steel bars manufacturer in Sabah. Our vision is to become a fully integrated steel mill of significance in the BIMP-EAGA region. The plant is located on a 15 acres site in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and is capable of producing Hot Rolled Ribbed Weldable Reinforcing Steel Bar (HTDB) and Mild Steel Round Bar (MSRB).

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficient in written & spoken English & Bahasa Malaysia
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel & Power Point
  • Working experience in a manufacturing environment is an added advantage

Responsibilities

  • Observing and practising safety and hazard free work procedure.
  • Reporting daily maintenance (repair and service) work activities.
  • Coordinating with Head of Section in managing maintenance operation effectively and efficiently.
  • Carrying out the roles of Head of Section in his absence.
  • Planning and preparing maintenance schedule.
  • Monitoring & reporting the progress of scheduled and routine maintenance work.
  • Coordinating with person-in-charge of other sections regarding any process problems, product’s quality problems and equipment’s failure.
  • Carrying out engineering evaluation & analysis to identify necessary actions to be taken for continual improvement.
  • Preparing technical report for evaluation & analysis and communicating effectively.
  • Identifying and solving engineering problems systematically, critically, creatively and analytically by taking appropriate corrections and corrective actions, or preventive actions.
  • Updating documents and engineering drawings.
  • Determining & monitoring level of stock for essential spare parts.
  • Liaising with outside authority concerning utilities (gas and water), suppliers, consultants, DOSH, DOE and etc.
  • Performing other tasks as requested by superior from time to time.
