Job summary

NS BlueScope Malaysia seeks a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to optimize capital projects, support project engineering and commissioning, and ensure mechanical assets align with business strategies.

You will design, analyze, and implement upgrades for heavy industry, manage design processes and OEM equipment quality, contribute to safety and zero-harm goals, and provide governance in the mechanical scope while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
• At least 3 years of professional experience.
• Mechanical design and manufacturing experience for heavy industry.
• Ability to design, analyse and implement strategic upgrades.
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to Project Engineering and commissioning.
• Manage design process, equipment construction, and commissioning from Mechanical perspective.
• Ensure OEM equipment and engineering quality meet Mechanical Engineering standards.
• Follow directions and perform basic mechanical design tasks.
• Assess equipment Intellectual Property content.
• Prioritize tasks as directed by Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager.
• Ensure safety—zero harm.

You will offer mechanical expertise to help optimize business solutions, support the execution of mechanical capital and engineering projects, ensure that mechanical assets align with business strategies, and provide governance in their specialized area.

What You'll Do

• Contribute to the Project Engineering and commissioning.
• Manage design process, equipment construction, and commissioning process from Mechanical perspective.
• Ensure all OEM equipment and engineering quality meets the Mechanical Engineering standards.
• Follow provided direction and perform basic mechanical design tasks.
• Understanding of what equipment contains Intellectual Property.
• Prioritizes individual tasks according to the direction given by the Senior Engineer and Engineering Manager.
• Ensure safety- zero harm.

What You Need To Succeed

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• At least 3 years of professional experiences.
• Mechanical Engineering Design and Manufacturing experience with a capability to design, analyse and implement strategic upgrades for heavy industry.
• Good proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D).
• Strong oral, written, and presentation skills on technical topics.
• Experience in Mechanical equipment design & manufacturing for Cold Rolling Mills, Strip Processing Line / Color Paint Line/ Furnaces is an added advantage.
