The Prince of Wales Island International School, Penang, is seeking a boarding supervisor to contribute to the boarding programme, ensuring safety and pastoral care on and off site. The role involves coordinating with medical, boarding and facilities teams and supporting day and night shifts.

You will manage communications, safeguard practices, and transport coordination while maintaining discretion and professionalism in daily interactions with students and staff.

• Experience in a residential or boarding environment preferred.

• Clean Malaysian driving licence.

Key purpose

To contribute to the boarding programme as per the published rota. When on duty, to take responsibility for the boarders, both on and off site, and to ensure the highest standards of safety and pastoral care.

Specific responsibilities and expectations of this role

To work with the medical and boarding teams in overseeing the health, safety, and pastoral care of the boarders.

To oversee the security and upkeep of the boarding facilities.

To support boarding staff with boarders’ illnesses during the day shift.

To conduct all day vitals checks and tests.

To carry out day external medical transport needs.

To support the day shift routines in the boarding halls.

To respond to any emergency calls from the Halls.

To properly manage daily correspondence through email, handover reports and direct communication with the boarding staff, night matrons, facilities and medical team.

To ensure that boarders’ clothes and personal belongings are in good repair, used and worn appropriately and stored securely and tidily.

To act as a fire marshall over the boarding facilities.

To operate school transport vehicles as needed.

To assist with collecting/distributing boarders’ devices as necessary.

To support boarders in managing their day time routines.

Oversee external laundry services and support students in developing independent laundry skills through guidance, instruction and supervision in managing their own laundry.

Assist boarders’ check-in and check-out processes.

To tend to sickbay/isolation zone needs.

To maintain all boarding equipment/supply inventory.

To maintain the highest level of discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information and materials, engage appropriately with students, and report any student concerns to the Line Manager.

With regard to cleaners ( external vendors) - Assist with monitoring cleaning standards within boarding and to report concerns to coordinator or facilities.

To assist with airport transfers.

To assist with term break needs.

To attend such meetings and official school functions as are appropriate for the role.

To support overnight shifts as needed.

The ideal candidate should be flexible, team oriented, proactive, and willing to contribute positively to the boarding community. Basic IT skills, a clean Malaysian driving licence, and previous experience working in a residential or boarding environment would be highly desirable.
