Mathematics Head of Department (Secondary) - Based in Thailand
Position: Secondary Mathematics Head of Department (HoD)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Mathematics department, ensuring high academic standards, consistency, and innovation in teaching practices.
- Teach Mathematics across Secondary levels, including Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level, using engaging, student‑centred approaches that promote critical thinking and problem‑solving.
- Oversee curriculum planning, development, and implementation to ensure alignment with the Cambridge curriculum and best international practices.
- Mentor, support, and appraise Mathematics teachers to foster professional growth and enhance teaching quality within the department.
- Monitor student performance across year levels, using data to inform planning, differentiation, and interventions to ensure student progress and achievement.
- Lead departmental meetings, coordinate resources, and facilitate collaborative planning among Mathematics staff.
- Organise and support co‑curricular Mathematics activities, competitions, and enrichment opportunities.
- Collaborate with school leadership and other Heads of Department to drive whole‑school improvement and promote cross‑curricular initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, providing timely updates on academic progress and departmental developments.
- Model professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to ongoing professional learning.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a closely related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent).
- Minimum 3–5 years of successful experience teaching Mathematics at the Secondary level, including IGCSE and A-Level.
- Prior experience in a leadership or coordination role within a Mathematics department strongly preferred.
- In‑depth understanding of the Cambridge curriculum and assessment standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team of teachers towards shared goals.
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
- A reflective, growth‑oriented, and student‑focused approach to education.
