We are looking for an experienced and proactive Materials Section Manager to lead the overall operations of our materials department. This role is critical to ensuring smooth production support through effective procurement, inventory management, material planning, and logistics execution. The ideal candidate will drive cost reduction, resource optimization, and system efficiency, while also managing a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Management
- Develop and execute procurement plans for raw materials, auxiliary items, and components to ensure timely availability.
- Establish and maintain long-term relationships with suppliers; handle supplier evaluation and price negotiations.
- Analyze market trends and material pricing to build flexible procurement strategies.
- Advantageous: Knowledge of plastic raw materials such as PP, ABS, PC.
Inventory Management
- Maintain optimal safety stock levels and implement effective inventory turnover strategies to minimize holding costs.
- Supervise inbound and outbound material processes to ensure accurate stock records.
- Conduct regular stocktaking and reconcile discrepancies.
Material Planning (MRP)
- Formulate material requirements planning based on production schedules.
- Collaborate closely with production teams to respond swiftly to scheduling changes and adapt material supply plans accordingly.
Data & System Management
- Utilize ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) to manage end-to-end material flow and ensure accurate system data.
- Generate and analyze material operations reports, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.
Cost Control
- Analyze material and logistics costs, implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Participate in product cost structure reviews and suggest feasible ways to reduce material spending.
Team Management
- Lead and manage the materials team including training, daily operations, and performance evaluations.
- Enhance team capability and establish efficient workflows and collaboration mechanisms.
Other Related Tasks
- Support internal and external audits (e.g., customer audits).
- Carry out ad-hoc assignments from superiors and participate in cross-departmental projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in materials/procurement/inventory management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong command of ERP systems and inventory control principles.
- Analytical thinker with solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in data analysis, report generation, and cost control.
- Preferred: Knowledge of plastic raw materials and manufacturing workflows.
- Proficient in English and Chinese (written and spoken) for supplier and team communication.
