Material Planner

Job Description
About the Role:

As we are expanding our team, we are seeking an experienced Material Planner to join us at our Greenfield manufacturing facility in Johor Bahur, Malaysia. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, with a focus on ensuring efficient material flow to support production schedules and meet customer demands. In this critical role at Brooks, you'll play a crucial part in ensuring seamless material flow, optimizing inventory, and supporting our production goals. Work Location: Onsite – Johor, Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage material planning processes to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
  • Review weekly demand versus Supply plan for intercompany and direct customer orders
  • Coordinate with suppliers, procurement, and production teams to align material supply with production schedules and potential shortages and mitigates actions to overcome this
  • Monitor inventory levels and adjust planning strategies to minimize excess stock and prevent shortages and actively support Clear-To-Build (CTB).
  • Analyze material usage trends and forecast future requirements to support production goals and develop a suitable strategy for replenishment, or contingency for any shortages, stocking policies.
  • Resolve material-related issues, including delays and quality concerns, to maintain production continuity, collaborate with buyers and ensure PROD schedules are on time to meet the delivery dates.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize supply chain processes and drive continuous improvement
  • Establish strong working relationship with overseas contract manufacturers to prioritize orders and manage expedite requests.
  • Provide customer support for Spares, including driving On Time Delivery (OTD)
  • Manage and commitment follow-up/escalations on delivery on spares.
  • Responsible for shipment coordination/communicate when necessary to support spares shipment with logistics team.
  • Manage and document improvements that focus on making internal and external processes more efficient.
  • Additional duties based on business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Degree / Diploma in Operations, Materials, Business or equivalent with 6-8 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and inventory management practices.
  • Familiarity with planning, costing and materials.
  • Computer literate with experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Ability to operate in a cross-functional team to meet customer expectations and to work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills; fluent in English (spoken & written)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and regulatory authorities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Proficiency in using ERP applications, i.e. Oracle Cloud / SAP ERP and capable of running reports and consolidating the statutory requirements for compliance
  • Strong problem-solving skills, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
