Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Market Analyst to join a globally recognised organisation in Penang, where your analytical expertise and collaborative approach will directly influence strategic decision-making at the highest levels.

This role is designed for someone who thrives on transforming complex data into actionable business insights, supporting growth and profitability across diverse business segments. You will be at the heart of the Corporate Strategic Marketing function, working closely with teams from Product Line Management, Sales, R&D, M&A, and Marketing Communications worldwide. The position offers high visibility within the organisation and the chance to make a tangible impact by providing market intelligence that shapes long-term planning and operational strategies. If you are passionate about market research, scenario planning, and fostering cross-functional relationships in a multicultural environment, this is your chance to contribute meaningfully while developing your career in a supportive and knowledge-rich setting.

What You'll Do

As a Market Analyst based in Penang, you will immerse yourself in a multifaceted role that bridges analytical rigour with collaborative teamwork. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you managing the full lifecycle of market intelligence gathering—from initial research through to synthesising complex datasets into clear recommendations for senior leaders. You will be instrumental in producing high-quality technical content such as trend reports and competitive analyses that directly inform both tactical actions and long-term strategies. By maintaining critical knowledge repositories on the shared intranet folder, you will ensure that vital information is accessible across the organisation. Regular coordination with global teams will allow you to align insights seamlessly between departments while also engaging with external partners to keep abreast of industry developments. Your ability to consolidate forecasts from various business units will play a crucial role in supporting executive-level decision-making processes. Ultimately, your work will empower colleagues at every level to act confidently on robust market intelligence.

  • Manage the end-to-end process of collecting, analysing, and disseminating competitive intelligence to inform strategic business decisions.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and scenario planning activities such as forecasting, market share analysis, and profitability studies to support organisational objectives.
  • Produce detailed technical and strategic content including market trend reports and competitive analyses tailored for senior leadership review.
  • Formulate clear, data-driven recommendations that guide business development initiatives and long-term corporate planning.
  • Create and maintain essential strategic documents that underpin go-to-market initiatives as well as operational strategies across multiple business units.
  • Prepare thorough documentation and analysis to support earnings call preparation by consolidating input from various business units.
  • Maintain an organised shared intranet folder containing up-to-date reports, white papers, and internal analyses categorised by segment and vertical for easy access by stakeholders.
  • Coordinate regular team meetings and calls to ensure alignment of market insights and strategies across all relevant departments.
  • Collaborate with external market data providers to review industry reports, interpret trends, and integrate findings into internal strategy discussions.
  • Serve as a central point of contact between Corporate Strategic Marketing and other business units to promote consistent methodologies for data collection.

What You Bring

To excel as a Market Analyst in this influential position, you will bring extensive experience gained from similar roles where your analytical mindset has been matched by your ability to communicate complex findings clearly. Your background should include significant exposure to conducting deep-dive research projects—whether through forecasting exercises or profitability studies—and translating these into practical recommendations for senior stakeholders. A track record of collaborating successfully with international teams is essential; your interpersonal skills will enable you to build trust quickly while ensuring alignment around shared goals. Familiarity with advanced reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI will allow you to present data visually in ways that enhance understanding among non-technical audiences. Your educational foundation should be rooted in disciplines such as marketing analytics or economics; additional qualifications at postgraduate level are welcomed but not mandatory. Above all else, your commitment to reliability—delivering accurate results on time—will set you apart as an indispensable member of the team.

  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to prioritise effectively across multiple concurrent projects in a fast-moving environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative in proposing new methods for data analysis, graphical representation of findings, and process optimisation within a corporate setting.
  • Strong analytical acumen paired with problem-solving capabilities that reflect openness to exploring innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in building structured, repeatable processes for gathering and sharing market intelligence across functions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multicultural, cross-functional teams operating on a global scale.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills complemented by clear communication abilities for presenting insights to diverse audiences.
  • Commitment to fulfilling tasks reliably while consistently meeting deadlines under pressure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Market Analytics, Economics, Engineering or related field; Master’s degree considered advantageous but not required.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in market analysis, strategic marketing or business intelligence roles within large organisations or consultancies.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI is highly desirable.
