Marine Technical Advisor

Join our dynamic team as a Marine Technical Advisor. This role is crucial in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant marine operations. The successful candidate will be a key technical expert on marine-related matters, collaborating closely with ship owners, charterers, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform Support Vessel Inspections following HRC Marine Assurance Guidelines.
  2. Ensure vessels meet HRC standards before engaging in business activities.
  3. Submit and close out inspection reports, evaluate responses, and manage vessel inspection data.
  4. Coordinate with ship owners on vessel movements and inspections, ensuring compliance and minimal disruption.
  5. Manage marine activities with schedulers for safe and efficient tanker turnaround, adhering to safety standards.
  6. Inspect tankers, barges, and crafts involved in jetty and SBM maintenance.
  7. Provide marine technical support as per Service Level Agreements, focusing on safety and cargo loss prevention.
  8. Represent the company during incidents or casualties, overseeing resolution tasks.
  9. Investigate incidents and share lessons learned.
  10. Promote HSSE policies and ensure safe practices.
  11. Conduct training and discussions on marine issues.
  12. Organize Marine HSSE Meetings and Management Reviews.
  13. Advise on legislative and corporate marine requirements.
  14. Oversee safe piloting and mooring of coastal vessels and tankers.
  15. Manage demurrage efficiently, including processing claims and recoveries.
  16. Support pollution control and oil spill response.
  17. Maintain ISO-compliant procedures and documentation.
Job Requirements:
  1. Class 1 Master Mariner – Unlimited Voyage (Foreign-Going) Certificate of Competency, with at least 2 years in a senior officer role and 5 years on tankers.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or related field.
  3. 8–10 years of relevant marine operations or shipping experience, preferably in oil and gas.
  4. Excellent communication, analytical, and coordination skills.
  5. Strong HSSE commitment and operational excellence.
  6. Knowledge of vessel and terminal inspections is advantageous.
  7. Sea and harbor pilotage skills are a plus.
  8. Leadership and technical support capabilities across shipboard and terminal operations, including cargo handling, management, and regulations.
  9. Understanding of HSSE, hydrocarbon transportation, cost control, and refinery economics.
  10. Strong analytical skills and experience in budget management.
  11. Ability to build relationships with Port Authorities, Marine Department, Government Agencies, and other stakeholders.
  12. Crisis management and emergency response knowledge.
  13. Familiarity with ISO systems and international/maritime regulations.
