A leading company in maritime services is seeking a Marine Electrical Engineer to promote safety, coordinate vessel operations, and maintain high standards of hygiene. Candidates should possess a degree in Marine Engineering and have over 5 years of relevant experience. Proactive individuals with excellent attention to detail will thrive in this role at Kuala Sungai Linggi, Malacca.
i) To promote Safety and Security awareness to all personnel onboard layup vessel including watchman and contract staff according to company and client standard
ii) To well verse with company/client HSE policy and Emergency Response Procedure and react when necessary
iii) To carry out regular safety drill in ensuring Emergency Response are well understood by all personnel onboard layup vessel
iv) To ensure LSA/FFA for watchman use are within validity. Any renewal shall be made under company/client approval
v) To alert and notify superior for any unsafe act or unsafe condition while working onboard layup vessel
vi) To identify risk, hazard and record of finding through safety analysis and risk assessment practice
vii) To ensure workplace and watchman habitation are clean and maintained at good hygienic practice
viii) To identify risk of security breach and promote security prevention measures
DEACTIVATION/REACTIVATION
i) To coordinate layup vessel deactivation as focal person and update to superior and client regularly
ii) To identify vessel owner and client request for all deactivation/reactivation work as per agreed scope of work
iii) To ensure company work scopes are achieved within limit and agreeable timeframe
iv) To ensure subordinates work safely, maintain work practice at all time and assist for any of their work necessities
v) To ensure all high risk job are well attended including heavy lifting, diving work, working at height and working at electrical appliances
vi) To ensure watchman cabin and watchkeeping system are established and demolished within company and client standard
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND PRESERVATION
i) To liaise with vessel crew and client for related machinery operating procedure during layup
ii) To liaise with vessel crew and client for agreeable routine maintenance work scope and interval including machinery turning list, tank sounding list and related consumable “Remain On-Board” (ROB) declaration
iii) To assist Electrical Engineer for obtaining megger reading of electrical motors and related machinery at agreeable interval
iv) To ensure dehumidified compartment relative humidity are achieved with agreeable percentage by minimizing air leak into the compartment
v) To ensure all blanks are intact and avoiding water ingress into the vessel compartment
vi) To maintain layup vessel in clean and good hygiene condition
vii) To attend any of ship visit by vessel owner, client, authority or class surveyor
viii) To report regularly at agreeable scope of reporting and interval to superior, company and client
ix) To attend to any emergency onboard layup vessel under superior and Incident Commander instruction
OTHERS
i) To attend any other marine project assign by Management or related superior
ii) To ensure Standard of Quality for given task carried out within company and client expectation
iii) To practice knowledge and experience sharing to other personnel within the company
iv) To assist in improving and developing Standard Operating Procedure related to layup and preservation service based on current best work practice; and other marine project task
Requirement / Skills
Preferable Degree in Marine Engineering/ Marine Electrical or related field.
Preferable with above 5 years’ experience in related field.
Working onboard as Marine Electrical Engineer as an additional advantage (5 years sea time onboard).
Proactive to follow up on the assignment tasks and have a good eye for detail.
Familiar with a variety of engine room and ship's electrical system. Especially ASD tugs system & machinery.
Excellent experience in power and automation control system.
Broad experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of naval and marine machinery, electrical related systems.
Immense ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, diagram and operation of naval electrical equipment.
Multi tasking, Result oriented, Self-motivated, Proactive, Resourceful, Independent and able to work with very minimum supervision.
Able to work under pressure to meet deadline.
Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (verbally and written).
Must be willing to work at Kuala Sungai Linggi, Malacca.
Able to start work ASAP is an added advantage.
