Job description

Ensure company’s assets, especially on vessels' electrical/electronic main and auxiliary equipment, are in working condition at all times, ready to meet operational challenges of all circumstances.

Monitor and ensure Electrical Planned Maintenance Schedule tasks are performed and comply with standard requirements.

Ensure all vessel safety devices are functioning at all times, for example, fire alarm detection systems, main engine, thruster, and auxiliary engine safety control or alarm and trip systems.

Perform installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of marine electrical (AC/DC) and electronics systems for onboard vessels.

Troubleshoot problems, provide recommendations for problem resolution, and provide estimates and quotations for repair, replacement, and installation according to problem diagnosis and repair/replacement recommendations.

Responsible or in charge to carry out routine maintenance along with Technical Superintendent or Technical Executive for all electrical/electronic equipment onboard, consisting of all motors, maintenance of main switchboard, navigational lights and equipment, all batteries fitted to machinery, and maintaining the air conditioning system.

Provide technical administrative support to the Tugs Master & Chief Engineer regarding electrical/electronic equipment.

Engage with crew, vendors, and suppliers in technical discussions.

Assist the Manager, Electrical & Control Section in developing and reviewing Electrical Planned Maintenance Schedule tasks.

Provide technical advice to crew to perform Planned Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance where required.

Perform maintenance for work that is beyond the crew's capability.

Perform feasibility studies for electrical modifications or upgrades.

All other duties and responsibilities not specifically specified therein and/or as instructed by the superior.

Requirement / Skills

Preferably a Degree in Marine Engineering/Machine Electrical or related field.

Preferably with above 5 years’ experience in a related field.

Working onboard as a Marine Electrical Engineer is an additional advantage (5 years sea time onboard).

Proactive in following up on assignment tasks and have a good eye for detail.

Familiar with a variety of engine room and ship's electrical systems, especially ASD tugs system & machinery.

Excellent experience in power and automation control systems.

Broad experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of naval and marine machinery, electrical-related systems.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and operation of naval electrical equipment.

Multi-tasking, result-oriented, self-motivated, proactive, resourceful, independent, and able to work with very minimal supervision.

Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (verbally and written).

Must be willing to work at Kuala Sungai Linggi, Malacca.

Able to start work ASAP is an added advantage.

Salary negotiable subject to experience.

Requirement

Diploma in Marine Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 2-3 years relevant experience in a similar position.

Possess relevant sea-going work experience minimum as Watchkeeping Engineer.

Experience in AHTS, ASD, Tractor, and/or any type of tugboat are added advantages.

Familiarity with ISM/ISPS are added advantages.
