Job summary

Celestica Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia seeks an Engineer, Manufacturing Equipment to develop and source equipment for manufacturing operations. You will support design, qualification, deployment, and performance improvement while upholding safety standards.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, real-time problem solving, budget management, and collaboration with Quality and clients on NPIs and audits. Strong communication and project focus are essential.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years’ equipment engineering experience in manufacturing.
• Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Experience with PM/RCM/TPM and NPI tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and routine maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime.
• Lead RTPS for line downtime and coordinate line backlog recovery with cross-functional teams.
• Manage RNM budget for maintenance, parts, and obsolescence evaluations.
• Oversee tool testing, component characterization for NPIs, and material validations.
• Maintain engineering manuals, safety protocols, and spare parts inventory.
• Lead 8D problem-solving and report/ escalate to customers.
• Partner with Quality to drive CAPAs through weekly audits.
• Review projects for cost reduction, downtime minimization, and yield improvements.
• Serve as primary technical interface for clients; communicate timelines and test results.
• Lead and support customer audits including Gap Assessments and PCL1/PCL2 for NPIs.

Job description

The Engineer, Manufacturing Equipment is responsible for the development and/or sourcing of manufacturing equipment to support manufacturing operations goals. Scope of job may include design and development of equipment, qualification, deployment to manufacturing, improving performance and supporting programs to optimize efficiencies while maintaining a safe working environment.

Key responsibilities

Perform routine, preventative, and predictive maintenance (PM/RCM/TPM) on equipment to minimize unplanned downtime

Execute Real-Time Problem Solving (RTPS) for line downtime and manage line backlog recovery strategies with cross-functional teams

Manage the Repair & Maintenance (RNM) budget for machine maintenance, spare parts replacement, and component obsolescence evaluations

Oversee tool testing, component characterization for New Product Introductions (NPI), and material validations

Maintain and update engineering manuals, safety protocols, spare parts inventory, and tooling

Lead 8D problem-solving initiatives for quality issues and ensure timely reporting and escalation to customers

Partner with Quality teams on weekly internal audits, driving continuous improvement through Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)

Review project engineering work with a focus on cost reduction, downtime minimization, yield enhancement, and scrap/kout reduction

Serve as the primary technical interface for clients: communicate downtime timelines, project status, test results, and service plans

Lead and support customer audits, including Gap Assessments, CMQS, and PCL1/PCL2 (for NPI products)

About you

At least 3 years experience as an equipment engineer in manufacturing industry preferably electronics

Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience
