Purpose Statement

Under supervisory direction, works closely with R&D and Manufacturing to develop robust, capable, cost-effective, and safe manufacturing processes, equipment, materials, and products. Supports the efficient transfer of new products and processes into commercial production.

Job Description

  • Demonstrates basic technical expertise on process/product technologies to support design, optimization, validation, and troubleshooting of those technologies.
  • Under supervisory direction, provides input to equipment engineering or external vendors in the selection, design, and development of new or upgraded equipment, tooling, and materials.
  • Applies DFSS/DMAIC tools, with mentor assistance, in the characterization, optimization, and troubleshooting of process equipment and technology performance.
  • Supports experimentation and testing to characterize, optimize, and troubleshoot processes and equipment. Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from test results for effective resolution.
  • Assists in the introduction of new processes, equipment, and materials, including installation, calibration, EHS assessment, debugging, and documentation of process and quality systems.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of Lean methodologies and process improvement tools to identify waste and develop efficient, cost-effective processes.
  • Supports validation techniques, PFMEAs, and regulatory requirements, aiding in the validation of equipment and processes.
  • Assists in writing and releasing process validation documentation, including FMEAs, validation plans, protocols, and reports.
  • Supports validation activities, testing, and reporting of validation results.
  • Ensures compliance with all quality system regulations.
  • For calibration engineering roles: provides calibration services, maintains calibration management systems, and supports calibration lab needs, including equipment calibration, standards acquisition, and technician training.
  • Supports department budgeting and communicates calibration status with operations.
  • Ensures quality compliance and drives standard work in calibration activities.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Biomedical preferred).
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Basic technical expertise in process/product technologies.
  • Ability to work under supervision, providing input to equipment and material vendors.
