Etiqa Insurance and Takaful seeks a qualified Shariah Review professional to assist the Head of Shariah Review in managing SNC risk for EFTB/EGTB. The role includes planning, ensuring Shariah compliance in product launches and operations, and conducting branch reviews to uphold governance.

The successful candidate will have a Shariah degree, CSA/CSP, and 6–10 years in Shariah functions within Takaful or Islamic banking, with strong knowledge of SAC/BNM resolutions and Shariah governance.

Competenze

• B.A in Shariah (Fiqh & Usul) / Islamic Finance & Banking / Muamalat from any recognized institutions.
• 6–10 years of experience in Shariah functions in Takaful/Islamic Banking (research/advisory/secretariat, Shariah Review, Shariah Risk Management and/or Shariah Audit).
• Completed the Certified Shariah Advisor (CSA) / Certified Shariah Practitioner (CSP) Programme offered by Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance Malaysia (ASAS).
• Competencies in compliance / Shariah Review tools and methodologies.
• Comprehension of Shariah requirements/ resolutions of SAC BNM and SCEFTB/SCEGTB.
• Skills and competencies related to the Shariah governance, Shariah principles and Shariah contracts.
• Providing proposal on outcome i.e. observations, areas for improvements, root cause and recommendation for respective review exercises for Head of Shariah Review further review/verification/ confirmation.

• Assist Head of Shariah Review in managing EFTB/EGTB SNC risk and governance.
• Assist in establishing Shariah Review Annual Plan covering critical business operation, newly launched/existing Takaful products, and branch visits to ensure compliance with Shariah requirements.
• Ensure Shariah requirements are fully adhered to in respect of Takaful product implementation and business operations/initiatives/proposals.
• Assess the business unit’s compliance with the Shariah requirements to ensure high compliance level within EFTB/EGTB.
• Lead and conduct branch reviews to ensure compliance with Shariah requirements.
• Inform and provide updates to the BOD, SCEFTB / SCEGTB, SMC and SMT on the latest developments in Shariah/regulatory requirements, especially SAC and PDs.
• Ensure adequate training and guidance are provided to staff involved with EFTB/EGTB’s operations on relevant Shariah requirements.
• Assist Head of Shariah Review on other ancillary matters relevant to successful deliverables.
• Provide support on Shariah compliance matters to other compliance functions.

• To assist Head of Shariah Review in managing Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad (EFTB) and Etiqa General Takaful Berhad (EGTB)’s Shariah Non Compliance (SNC) risk, by ensuring a sound compliance risk management that aligns with Shariah principles/ requirements, business performance and governance structure in identifying, managing and mitigating possible noncompliance with Shariah requirements.
• Assist in establishing a comprehensive Shariah Review Annual Plan that includes critical business operation, newly launched/ existing Takaful products, and branch visit to ensure compliance with the Shariah requirements, applicable laws, rules and regulations.
• Ensure Shariah requirements are fully adhered to in respect of Takaful product implementation and business operations/ initiatives/ proposal.
• Assess the business unit’s compliance with the Shariah requirements in ensuring high compliance level within EFTB/EGTB.
• Lead and conduct branch review to ensure compliance with the Shariah requirements.
• Inform and provide updates to the BOD, SCEFTB / SCEGTB, SMC and SMT on the latest developments in Shariah / legal / regulatory requirements in Islamic finance, especially in relation to issuance of the BNM Shariah Advisory Council (SAC) rulings and Policy Documents (PD).

Job Requirement
