Funding Societies | Modalku is hiring a Manager/Senior Manager for Consumer Lending Products in Kuala Lumpur. You will lead the credit development, scaling, and lifecycle management of consumer financing solutions, including hire purchase offerings, balancing rapid growth with strong credit risk discipline.

The role requires deep HP product experience, dealer subvention knowledge, and proven ability to translate regulatory requirements into product roadmaps within a fast-paced fintech

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Risk & Policy development: Creating and refining underwriting models, optimizing approval rates, and maintain healthy portfolio metrics.
• Product Strategy & Lifecycle Management: End-to-end product lifecycle for consumer lending products with portfolio scaling focus.
• Market & Competitor Analysis: Monitor lending landscape to refine models, pricing strategies, gaps.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Hire Purchase Act and governance standards.
• Process Optimization: Streamline origination, underwriting, disbursement, and settlement workflows with dealers and end-consumers.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with engineering, operations, marketing, and legal to launch features.

About the role :

We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Manager / Senior Manager of Consumer Lending Products to lead the credit development, scaling, and lifecycle management of our consumer financing solutions. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our consumer lending products inclusive of hire purchase offerings, balancing aggressive market growth with robust credit risk management.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings deep subject matter expertise in consumer lending and hire purchase facilities, and has a proven track record of innovating consumer lending products outside of traditional banking structures.

Key responsibilities :

Risk & Policy development: Creating and refining underwriting models, optimizing approval rates, and maintain healthy portfolio metrics.

Product Strategy & Lifecycle Management: Collaborate closely with relevant stakeholders on end-to-end product lifecycle for consumer lending products, with a primary focus on balancing credit scaling of the portfolio.

Market & Competitor Analysis: Continuously monitor the consumer lending landscape to refine underwriting models, identify emerging trends, pricing strategies, and product gaps.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all consumer lending products strictly adhere to relevant regulatory frameworks, including the Hire Purchase Act and internal governance standards.

Process Optimization: Streamline origination, credit underwriting, disbursement, and settlement processes, specifically addressing the unique operational workflows involving dealers and end-consumers.

Cross-Functional Leadership: Work seamlessly with engineering, operations, marketing, and legal teams to launch new features, automated checks, and system enhancements.

About you :

Experience: 4 to 8 years of hands-on experience in consumer lending, product management, or credit risk.

Core Expertise: Deep, demonstrable experience working specifically with Hire Purchase (HP) products is an absolute prerequisite. You must understand the mechanics of dealer subvention, disbursement governance, and customer repayment lifecycles.

Execution & Delivery: Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial and regulatory requirements into clear product roadmaps.

Background: Prior experience working in an alternative financier, fintech, or startup environment is highly preferred. We are looking for builders who are comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration.

Technical Acumen: Familiarity with modern lending tech stacks, automated credit underwriting models, and data-driven product decision-making.

Leadership: Proven ability to mentor junior team members and influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
