Manager - Repossession & Operation (NPL & Recovery Dept)
Overview
The Manager is responsible for leading repossession and operational improvement initiatives to achieve departmental targets, enhance efficiency, ensure compliance, and support strategic planning and project implementation within the NPL & Recovery Department.
Responsibilities
- Ensure staff adhere to the company’s internal policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements (BNM and related regulations).
- Manage unit/section repossession and operation improvement staff in terms of daily activities, performance, administration, and daily and monthly reporting to the Head of Department or Senior Management.
- Achieve unit/section repossession and operation improvement targets set by Management on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis, and deliver strong collection results.
- Contribute to the unit’s overall performance in NPL collection to minimize impairment losses in accordance with the company’s loss provision budget (monthly, quarterly, and yearly).
- Assess staff collection knowledge and recommend skill development programs.
- Provide operation support to other Section Heads to ensure smooth operations when required.
- Increase customer service standards and ensure timely resolution of customer complaints.
- Undertake new directions from Management and participate in projects or tasks as assigned.
- Perform any ad-hoc tasks or matters assigned by Management.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in collections, credit operations, or NPL recovery, preferably within a banking or financial institution.
- Strong knowledge of collections processes, repossession procedures, and NPL management.
- Proven track record in managing teams and achieving operational and collection performance targets.
- Familiarity with Malaysian legal frameworks, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) guidelines, and financial institution operations related to credit and recovery.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive operational improvements.
- Change management experience with a proactive and result-oriented approach to problem solving.
