Job description

CARSOME is the largest integrated car e-commerce platform in South East Asia offering end-to-end automotive solutions, from car discovery, buying, selling, listing, financing, insurance, servicing and repairs, to automotive TVET education.

The Public Affairs team is the touch point between CARSOME and all relevant Government entities and corporate partners. This role is responsible to support the Regional Director of Corporate Affairs in the execution and implementation of strategies to:

(1) Build, maintain, and enhance CARSOME’s network with relevant Government and corporate stakeholders.
(2) Identify potential areas of partnership between CARSOME, the Government, and corporate partners, and to coordinate the partnerships.
(3) Remove bottlenecks to growth for CARSOME by engaging relevant government/ regulatory stakeholders.

Your Day-to-Day

Be the bridge between key Government and corporate partners and CARSOME. Also responsible for coordinating, executing, and implementing key partnerships/ projects. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management:
    • Build, maintain, and enhance CARSOME’s network/relationship with relevant stakeholders.
    • Help to identify, arrange, and coordinate visits/ tours/ meetings/ engagements between Carsome and key Government/ corporate stakeholders such as Ministers, senior civil servants, heads of agencies, regulatory bodies, and etc.
  • Government Partnership & Project Management (PMO):
    • Identify potential areas of partnership between CARSOME, the Government, and corporate partners and to manage/coordinate the partnerships.
    • This may include, but is not limited to, identifying, proposing, and coordinating the application and implementation of relevant partnerships. Also to follow up periodically and track the status of partnerships in progress.
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans for partnerships, outlining scope, objectives, timelines, resources, and deliverables.
    • Monitor and track the status of partnerships and projects in progress periodically, ensuring adherence to project milestones and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs).
    • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, developing contingency plans to ensure smooth execution.
    • Prepare and present regular project status reports to the Regional Director of Corporate Affairs and other relevant internal stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and next steps.
  • Regulatory Engagement & Bottleneck Removal:
    • Remove bottlenecks to growth for CARSOME by engaging relevant regulatory stakeholders. For example, licensing issues, regulatory engagements, crisis management, and etc.

Your Know-How

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Public Affairs, Government Relations, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on project management and operational execution (PMO).
  • Strong networking and project management background.
  • Prior experience in Government (Ministries, Agencies, GLCs, GLICs, etc), Government-related consultancies, or Government related roles in the private sector (Public policy, Gov Relations, Public Affairs) would be appreciated.
  • Proficiency in Malay and English, networking, persuasion, presentation, communications, coordination, execution, and implementation.
  • Solid understanding of how to network, communicate CARSOME’s position and interests, and coordinate the execution of partnerships.
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects or initiatives, preferably involving external stakeholders or government entities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
