Job summary

Standard Chartered Malaysia is seeking a risk analytics professional to deliver high‑quality internal and external risk reporting and analytics. The role covers Basel metrics, stress testing, ICAAP and risk appetite monitoring to help manage capital and ROCE.

You will drive automations, improve data quality, and develop MIS datasets using SAS, Python, SQL and QlikView, collaborating with risk, finance and regulatory reporting teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience in risk analytics, MIS, and forecasting within financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of Basel, ICAAP, stress testing, and risk appetite.
  • Familiarity with IFRS 9 and Expected Credit Loss concepts is a plus.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high‑quality internal and external risk reporting and analytics to support senior management decision making. The role manages end‑to‑end MIS and portfolio analytics, including Basel‑related metrics, stress testing, ICAAP and risk appetite monitoring, to ensure risks remain within acceptable levels while optimising capital and ROTE.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high‑quality internal and external risk reporting and analytics to support senior management decision making. The role manages end‑to‑end MIS and portfolio analytics, including Basel‑related metrics, stress testing, ICAAP and risk appetite monitoring, to ensure risks remain within acceptable levels while optimising capital and ROTE. The role holder will drive automation of BAU reporting, enhance data quality and integrity, and develop new MIS datasets and analytical tools (using SAS, Python, SQL, QlikView). They will monitor credit scorecards and support model development, while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and Group risk policies. The position requires close collaboration with business, risk, finance, regulatory reporting teams, and regulators, as well as coaching and developing analytics capability within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and enhance MIS and analytics to support proactive portfolio management, ensuring robust data quality and integrity of statistics and reporting.
  • Support senior management in reviewing portfolio performance by providing timely, accurate data and value‑added analysis.
  • Leverage existing analytical tools (SAS, QlikView) and explore new tools/technologies to increase analytical throughput and drive automation.
  • Manage, review and control statistical data for collections, customer insights, policies and Group reporting.
  • Perform periodic stress testing, ICAAP and risk appetite exercises, helping to maintain portfolio risk within approved appetite.
  • Integrate Basel metrics and capital optimisation considerations into credit decision‑making and portfolio management.
  • Ensure accurate computation of Basel parameters and enhance the use of Basel metrics in portfolio monitoring.
  • Monitor credit scorecards and support Group Risk Measurement Assurance in the monitoring, development and enhancement of scoring and Basel models.
  • Continuously assess the adequacy of existing datasets and recommend/implement enhancements where required.
  • Ensure strategy tracking is in place and provide analytics support to identify and troubleshoot areas of significant credit risk.
  • Support the development of new MIS datasets and lead/assist in MIS automation initiatives.
  • Provide training and guidance on SAS, Python and related MIS / analytics tools to uplift team capabilities.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor in line with business and functional objectives.

Skills And Experience
  • Substantial experience in the banking industry, with demonstrated success in a similar risk analytics / MIS / forecasting role.
  • Strong working knowledge of risk analytics, including scorecards, Basel, stress testing and scenario analysis.
  • Proven risk management and control experience across a varied product base, with expertise in process design and control.
  • Good awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework and requirements relevant to the role.
  • Strong organisational, project management and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple deliverables.
  • Solid understanding of key risk principles and risk types, and their implications for individual and business lending.
  • Working knowledge of IFRS 9 accounting principles, particularly Expected Credit Loss (ECL) concepts.
Qualifications
  • Graduate / Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Finance, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field).
  • Hands‑on knowledge of SAS and/or Python and SQL.
  • Experience in risk or business analytics and reporting within financial services.
