Responsible for providing support on implementations, modifications, installations, and testing on third party software application products, mainframe system products and technologies. Plays a key role in product configurations for database management system software.
Technical Delivery:

  • Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
  • Understand business processes to customize, install, upgrade and update database management software to meet client requirements.
  • Perform system software administration for database management products.
  • Identify, isolate and debug issues with current software products.
  • Work on project teams to produce deliverables to meet service delivery requirements.
  • Prepare and modify technical documentation for database management system software.
  • Provide continuous monitoring and ongoing support on DB2 database management software environment availability.
  • Interact with DBAs, providing advice and technical guidance, as needed.

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Knowledgeable of multiple programming languages including Java, Assembler, COBOL, REXX, Clist, SQL, DL1.
  • Experience with ISV (Independent Software Vendor) products (i.e. Compuware, Broadcom , BMC, EJES, IBM, etc.).
  • Understanding of some of the following: z/OS DB2, IDMS, Adabase, IMS, DB2 Distributed Data Facility, Internal Product Security, Restart and Recovery, System tuning, DB2 Catalog directory structure, SMP/E.
  • Experience with ISPF, TSO, JCL and IBM utilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


Qualifications:

  • - 5+ years of experience in this role
  • - Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • - BCS MTP Technician (Technical Support and Operations).
  • - IBM Certified Database Associate - DB2 x Fundamentals.
