Job summary

A leading company in Malaysia seeks an Industrial Relations professional to manage grievance processes and complex IR matters. The role requires extensive knowledge of employment laws and strong communication skills to liaise with employees and unions. Ideal candidates will have 5-8 years of relevant experience, coupled with a Bachelor's degree in HR or a related field.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 8 years of relevant working experience in Industrial Relations.
  • Experience with union matters and collective bargaining is advantageous.

Job description

Responsibilities

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Oversee end-to-end disciplinary and grievance case management, including investigations, documentation, and issuance of decisions.
  • Handle complex IR matters including union issues, disputes, and court proceedings; act as company representative during proceedings.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws and internal policies; review and update employee handbook, code of conduct, and HR policies.
  • Support collective bargaining and manage post-agreement issues like trade disputes or industrial actions.
  • Contribute to ESG initiatives by promoting human rights and inclusivity through awareness programs.
  • Guide managers on performance issues and disciplinary actions; monitor PIPs to ensure fair process before decisions on terminations or extensions.
  • Maintain effective communication with employees, unions, and stakeholders through roadshows and advisory support.
  • Liaise with external service providers and regulatory bodies to uphold strong working relationships.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping, reporting, and documentation of IR activities to support operational and strategic decisions.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in HR or any other relevant field or Law will be an added advantage.
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant working experience involving employment matters/Industrial Relations.
  • Expert knowledge of employment laws, industrial relations practices, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience handling union matters and collective bargaining is a strong advantage.
  • Familiarity with human rights principles and experience in driving related initiatives..
