JOB SUMMARY
The Head of Group Reporting is responsible for leading the end-to-end consolidation, financial reporting, and performance analysis across EPF and its subsidiaries, associates, and joint ventures, including coordinating reporting activities across multiple regions to ensure consistency and timely delivery. The role ensures the delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant group financial statements in accordance with IFRS/MFRS and internal policies. This role also serves as a key business partner by providing critical insights into group financial performance, supporting decision-making at the management, Audit Committee, and Board levels. The position also drives audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvements in reporting systems, processes, and team capability.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Group Financial Reporting & Consolidation
- Oversee the preparation and consolidation of Group financial statements in compliance with IFRS/MFRS and EPF’s internal accounting policies.
- Lead the year-end and interim closing processes across the Group, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete submissions from subsidiaries, associates, and joint ventures.
- Approve consolidation adjustments and manual journal entries in the consolidation system (e.g., BPC).
- Ensure proper documentation and elimination of intercompany transactions and balances, including reconciliation and resolution of mismatches.
2. Financial Performance Analysis & Reporting
- Review and analyse the Group’s financial performance and provide insight-driven reports to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
- Present performance summaries of subsidiaries and strategic investments to internal stakeholders, including the Investment Division, Audit Committees, and Board members.
- Participate in investment-related meetings and provide financial insights, including review of investment control assessments and performance outlook.
3. Technical Review & Policy Compliance
- Review and validate supporting documentation related to significant intercompany transactions (e.g., share sale agreements, loan contracts).
- Oversee impairment testing and fair value assessments of investments and shareholder loans in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Enforce and ensure consistent application of group accounting policies across all reporting entities.
- Guide and support subsidiaries and investee companies in interpreting accounting treatments to maintain consistent group-level reporting.
4. Regulatory Reporting & Audit Management
- Manage JAN/external audit processes at the Group level, serving as the principal liaison with auditors to ensure timely closure and clean audit outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory filing obligations, including preparation and submission of required financial disclosures.
5. Reporting Systems & Process Improvement
- Lead the enhancement and automation of group financial reporting tools and processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
- Collaborate with IT and finance system teams to optimise the use of financial systems (e.g., SAP BPC or equivalent consolidation tools).
6. Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor the Group Reporting team to build capability, ensure high performance, and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Drive a collaborative environment that supports knowledge sharing across the finance and investment functions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master’s or professional qualification (CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent) is required.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role involving group reporting, consolidation, and an external audit interface.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, MFRS, group consolidation, and investment accounting.
- Familiar with impairment testing, fair value measurement, and intercompany reconciliations
- Experience with consolidation and reporting tools (e.g., SAP BPC, Hyperion), and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia, with the ability to present confidently to senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills across functions and business units.
- Malaysian citizen.
- Obtain a pass in Bahasa Melayu, including an oral test in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognised by the Government.
