The position is responsible for managing the daily operations of the expense function, overseeing staff cost accounting, fixed asset and lease accounting, and ensuring accurate financial, statutory, and regulatory reporting following and complying to the applicable internal company policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures, as well as regulatory and Group reporting requirements. It involves conducting variance analysis, supporting audits and tax filings, and ensuring compliance with internal controls. The position also provides business insights through Group Office reporting, collaborates with stakeholders on expense-related matters, and drives continuous improvement through process enhancement and automation. Active participation in ad hoc projects are also key aspects of the role.
Manage the daily operations of the expense and reporting function.
Responsible for the monthly variance analysis to provide greater visibility into financial performance trends.
Hands-on accounting for staff related costs (e.g. salary, bonus, other staff benefits) and liaising with Human Resources on queries pertaining to staff related costs.
Responsible for fixed asset and lease accounting.
Responsible for timely and accurate statutory and regulatory reports (e.g. regulatory returns, tax returns and annual accounts) in compliance with local regulations.
Ensure compliance with the Group's internal control requirements, including financial and operational policies and procedures.
Responsible for Group Office reporting and providing insightful business analysis. Ensure these are done on time and accurately.
Support internal audit review and risk controls.
Support the audit process on statutory audit matters.
Support the annual tax filing process.
Actively seek to deliver improvement in data, processes and output and streamline/ automate existing workflows and processes.
Provide guidance and motivate team members to work together to meet deadlines and key deliverables.
Provide advice and assistance to business stakeholders on expenses related matters/queries.
Proactively drive and value-add in special or ad hoc project work.
Requirements:
Bachelor or Degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
Internationally recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA, ICAEW, etc.) or working towards designation will be an added advantage.
At least 8 years of commercial working experience.
Prior experience from Big 4 audit firm and /or financial services industry especially Fund Management would be preferred.
Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Willing to work on ad hoc requests when necessary.
Meticulous, hands-on, independent and resourceful in solution delivery.
Energetic, positive and consistent, even under pressure.
Driven and self-motivated individual with an acute sense of commercial awareness.
Other business knowledge/skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced MS Excel skills.
Good understanding of internal controls, documentation standards, and compliance needs.
Knowledge of Oracle, Coupa and/or OneStream will be an added advantage.
