Human Resources leads the implementation of the Group’s people strategy in line with business objectives. It facilitates talent management, succession planning, and employee mobility while defining and overseeing frameworks that support employee performance management, reward, learning and development, resourcing, and engagement.

We are currently seeking an industry professional with a proven track record to join our team in the role of Manager, Employee Relations.

This role is responsible for managing employee relations programs, advising on workplace issues, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. It will support the Personal Conduct and Investigations agenda across various entities in the Group, as needed. The role will primarily support the Malaysia Employee Relations team to deliver a fair, consistent, and transparent approach that also drives performance and success for the HSBC Group.

The role holder will undertake complex employee relations investigations and support related compliance, governance, and reporting tasks. This includes investigations through various channels (e.g., HSBC Confidential, HR Direct, executive offices). As a specialist investigator, the role holder will benchmark and implement best practices to enhance the capability of other investigators and will work with teams across all countries and regions daily.

It is expected that the role holder will collaborate to ensure decisions are compliant with local legislation and Group guidelines, while implementing pragmatic, risk-mitigated, and proactive solutions.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Undertake HR investigations across multiple geographies.

  2. Support the Asia Pacific (ASP) Employee Relations teams as a key contributor.

  3. Provide specialist and strategic ER support to the ASP ER teams.

  4. Work closely with the Head of ER on union-related matters.

  5. Support various ER activities, including advising on complex cases, managing appeals, conducting sensitive investigations (including senior individuals), and supporting strategic projects.

  6. Establish constructive working relationships within ER, HR functions, and with HR Advisory and HR Consultant teams.

  7. Proactively innovate and improve investigation practices within ER.

  8. Support the development of ER / HR Advisory colleagues.

  9. Liaise with legal teams on ER-related matters.

  10. Navigate and manage organizational complexity effectively.

  11. Engage with senior HR and business stakeholders on complex ER activities, working as part of a dynamic ER team.
