Our client is one of the world's leading logistics providers with a significant presence in Malaysia. They specialize in integrated logistics services, including freight forwarding, supply chain management, and contract logistics. They are seeking a project manager with experience in warehouse/3PL operations to coordinate and execute projects, ensuring timely, on-budget delivery. A technical background, along with PMP/Prince II certification, is preferred for managing stakeholders and project documentation.

Job Overview:

Our client is seeking a Manager - Contract Logistics/SCM, Operations. The role involves overseeing warehouse operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, inventory control, and adherence to health and safety standards, while managing and developing staff to meet targets. Key responsibilities include implementing best practices, managing customer relationships, and driving continuous improvement initiatives, with a focus on meeting customer deliverables and maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice warehouse vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to improve operational performance.
  2. Represent the company professionally, enthusiastically, and positively.
  3. Ensure efficient warehouse operations that fulfill operational and customer demands.
  4. Provide a safe working environment, adhering to health, safety, and environmental procedures, and ensure staff are aware and compliant.
  5. Plan, coordinate, and monitor the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
  6. Drive a zero-tolerance mindset for deviations from quality processes to meet customer deliverables.
  7. Understand customer needs and ensure alignment with business commitments.
  8. Maintain inventory accuracy through physical counts and reconciliation with automated systems, involving the warehouse team.
  9. Ensure all documentation related to goods in and out, including labeling, is accurate and relevant.
  10. Optimize warehouse space utilization, including layout planning and future capacity considerations.
  11. Develop and maintain metrics/KPIs, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, and safety records.
  12. Create policies and procedures for warehouse activities, ensuring system standards meet accreditation and quality requirements.
  13. Ensure health and safety standards are met, including conducting risk assessments.
  14. Establish and maintain high security standards within the warehouse.
  15. Ensure vehicles, machinery, and equipment are well-maintained and fit for purpose.
  16. Follow manual handling procedures during product lifting and maneuvering.
  17. Coach, manage, and develop warehouse staff and team leaders to optimize performance and meet targets.
  18. Communicate operational priorities, targets, and requirements regularly to staff.
  19. Implement and oversee effective warehouse and distribution operations through policies and procedures.
  20. Set and review department objectives/KPIs, assessing ongoing performance.
  21. Participate in management activities, sharing ideas to improve operations, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  22. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
  23. Collaborate, negotiate, and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with department strategies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum SPM equivalent or diploma qualification.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in warehouse operations or customer service.
  • Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems and handling electronic devices such as RF scanners and ring scanners.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, VBA).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creative problem resolution experience.
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external customers.
  • Positive attitude, team-oriented, and eager to learn.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and innovative mindset.
