HSBC’s Second Line of Defense Compliance Assurance (CA) provides risk-based testing of Regulatory Compliance (RC) and Financial Crime (FC) activities to ensure the business operates in line with relevant laws, regulations, and HSBC standards, delivering fair outcomes for customers and maintaining market integrity. The assurance model operates consistently across all countries for transparency and uniformity in reporting global RC and FC risks.

The role involves performing risk-based reviews and related activities within the CA program. We are seeking an experienced professional for the position of Manager, Compliance Assurance.

Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to conduct risk-based reviews and other activities related to the CA program.

At a high level, the role holder is responsible for:

  1. Assisting the Head of Compliance Assurance, MYH, in planning and executing the MYH CA plan, with a good understanding of compliance risks.
  2. Contributing to a standardized assurance approach aligned with the Risk Management Framework.
  3. Evaluating policies, procedures, processes, and controls for adequacy and effectiveness; maintaining quality assurance of the CA program.
  4. Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders, promoting the value of CA.
  5. Supporting the Regional/Country Head of CA in coordinating with Internal Audit and other assurance functions to align plans and prevent duplication.
Impact on the Business
  1. Performing activities of the MYH CA team and other sites, ensuring standards and policies are fit for purpose.
  2. Ensuring CA activities adequately cover key compliance risks and liaising with Global Compliance teams.
  3. Supporting review scope identification and contributing to the CA planning process.
  4. Providing education and support to CA specialists on review processes.
  5. Preparing reports on review outcomes, including findings, ratings, and actions, and informing relevant stakeholders.
  6. Escalating significant control deficiencies promptly.
  7. Contributing to management information reports on review results for senior management.
  8. Fostering relationships with key stakeholders regionally and locally.
