Manager, Buying (Meat, Poultry / Seafood)

Job Summary:
The Meat & Seafood Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing inventory of fresh and frozen meat and seafood products. This role focuses on supplier negotiations, product quality, pricing optimization, and compliance with food safety standards. The buyer works closely with merchandising, operations, and logistics teams to ensure consistent product availability, reduce waste, and meet customer demand.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement effective buying strategies for the Meat & Seafood division to achieve sales, margin, and inventory turnover goals.
2. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to secure cost savings and support profitability targets.
3. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with distribution centers to ensure consistent product availability.
4. Ensure all products comply with food safety regulations, sustainability standards, and internal company policies.
5. Analyze sales data, market trends, and consumer behavior to inform product selection and category management.
6. Collaborate with marketing and merchandising teams to plan promotions and curate compelling product assortments.
7. Manage and nurture relationships with suppliers while evaluating vendor performance to ensure quality and reliability.
8. Stay informed on industry developments, market changes, and competitive pricing strategies to maintain a strong market position.
9. Any other related tasks assigned by management as and when is needed.

Qualification & Experience Requirements:

• Preferably a degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent experience/training.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in meat and/or seafood procurement, retail, or the foodservice industry.

• Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.

• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to meeting deadlines.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

• Capable of multitasking and thriving in a fast-paced work setting.
