Overview

The successful candidate will lead the intake process for project requests, work with project sponsors, business stakeholders, business PMs, and ITPMs to ensure that business cases and project charters are appropriately documented and meet project standards and practices. The incumbent leads the Project Portfolio Governance process, including planning and facilitating the monthly Governance approval meeting. This role leverages the project management framework to execute projects through the lifecycle to deliver business value. Additionally, this role defines and executes the continuous improvement roadmap for the PMO capabilities within the organization. We are passionate about building a strong project management office that unlocks business value and are energized about solving problems through teamwork.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

• Accountable for portfolio processes including planning, governance, project methodology framework, and resource capacity management.
• Ensure project management standards are executed across the project portfolio.
• Drive improvements into the PMO program, leveraging industry best practices.
• Supervise team members, including performance management, career growth, and development.
• Create and maintain staffing plans, ensuring the team is properly trained and staffed to handle the workload. Make recommendations regarding contractors and staff additions.
• Analyze project proposals to determine timelines, funding limitations, and appropriate processes.
• Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project lifecycle.
• Implement project communications, including steering committee meetings and status reports.
• Manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation plans.
• Ensure project goals align with business objectives.
• Coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, or related field.
• Minimum of 8+ years' experience in managing complex projects.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
• Experience in Business Analysis.
• Knowledge of Lean concepts and their application in technology environments.
• Experience managing a Portfolio or Project Management Office.
• Supervisory or management experience.
• Experience managing external partners and contract staff.
