About the Job
To advance Great Eastern Malaysia entities’ sustainability agenda across Life, General, and Takaful and ensure compliance with sustainability regulations and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Implement sustainability risk management strategies and action plans, collaborating with Group Sustainability team and cross-functional departments to execute initiatives aligned with the company’s sustainability strategy and risk appetite.
- Work with Senior Management and key stakeholders across Life Insurance, General Insurance, and Takaful arms on environmental, social, and governance matters.
- Drive the implementation of ISSB reporting standards (IFRS S1 and S2), working closely with the Finance team to interpret disclosure requirements and incorporate them into financial reporting.
- Prepare sustainability reporting disclosures based on relevant frameworks (GRI, TCFD, ISSB).
- Review internal frameworks and policies to ensure alignment with sustainability best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Engage with regulators and industry peers to promote best practices in climate risk management and climate-related disclosures in the financial sector.
- Prepare bi-annual and quarterly sustainability reports for Management and the Board, tracking progress and impact of sustainability initiatives and metrics.
- Develop and execute internal and external communication plans to raise awareness of sustainability initiatives.
- Stay updated on relevant sustainability regulations, guidelines, and reporting requirements to ensure full compliance.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Master’s in Risk Management, Insurance, Accounting, Sustainable Finance, or relevant disciplines. Candidates with relevant experience in other fields are encouraged to apply.
- 5-7 years of experience in sustainability or risk management, preferably in the financial industry or consultancy.
- Familiarity with sustainability standards and regulations such as Bursa Malaysia Sustainability Reporting Guide, GRI, SASB, TCFD, UNPRI, UNPSI, ISSB, CRMSA, CCPT, CRST.
- Relevant sustainability certifications (SCR, FSA, GRI) are advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with enthusiasm for driving change and positive impact.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Proactive with the ability to work independently.
