Job summary

YSK Freshmart in Malaysia is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform daily maintenance, inspection and repair of retail shop facilities and equipment. You will troubleshoot refrigeration systems and handle electrical repairs to keep operations smooth.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, general building upkeep, documenting repair reports, and coordinating with external contractors when needed, while ensuring safety and adherence to company standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in maintenance, preferably in retail, supermarket, F&B or food industry.
• Strong hands-on skills in commercial refrigeration, cool rooms, chillers and freezers.
• Good knowledge of electrical troubleshooting, wiring, MCB/RCCB and control systems.
• Able to repair and maintain shop equipment, motors, pumps and machinery.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, drainage and general building maintenance.
• Multi-skilled and able to troubleshoot A–Z maintenance issues independently.
• Good problem-solving skills with a hands-on, proactive attitude.
• Physically fit and comfortable working in cold-room environments.
• Willing to travel between outlets and attend emergency breakdowns when required.
• Electrical / refrigeration certification is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance, inspection and equipment repair of retail shop facilities and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and maintain cool rooms, chillers, freezers and refrigeration systems.
• Handle electrical repairs and troubleshooting, including lighting, sockets, switches and basic wiring.
• Attend to emergency breakdowns and minimize disruption to shop operations.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce equipment downtime and repair costs.
• Perform general building and shop maintenance, including doors, roller shutters, shelves, ceilings and minor repairs.
• Monitor equipment condition and identify potential problems before breakdown occurs.
• Maintain proper maintenance records, repair reports and spare‑parts usage.
• Coordinate with external contractors or suppliers for specialized repairs and servicing when required.
• Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely, efficiently and according to company standards.
