Job summary

MetLife is seeking a Core Systems Software Engineer to develop and maintain insurance business systems on mainframe platforms. You will work across Japan, Malaysia and India, modernizing development environments and processes to deliver stable operations and new product development.

The role involves design, development, testing, and operations, with emphasis on AI-assisted tooling, automated testing, and secure, compliant practices for regulated financial services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
• 3+ years of software development, preferably in a mainframe environment.
• Experience with COBOL, JCL and DB2 is desirable.
• Experience integrating mainframe solutions with modern platforms.
• Experience in regulated financial industry is desirable.
• Familiarity with Agile development and AI-assisted tools.

Responsibilities

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve code quality and automate testing.
• Identify AI-driven opportunities to accelerate modernization and efficiency.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications.
• Translate business requirements into system specifications.
• Improve batch and online processing performance and perform root cause analysis.
• Manage changes, release plans, and operational manuals.
• Evaluate modernization tech (tools, test automation, CI/CD).
• Ensure security and regulatory compliance in design and operations.
