Job summary

Belmond invites a skilled Technician to join the Eastern & Oriental Express aboard Malaysia. You will ensure safe, efficient operation of all technical systems, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot issues in real time to support luxury guest service.

You will manage spare parts, coordinate with contractors, and help implement maintenance schedules aligned with train operations, safety, and quality goals. This role requires strict adherence to railway standards and Belmond protocols.

Qualifications

• Diploma required in mechanical, electrical, or refrigeration engineering.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in commercial, industrial, or railway HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Proven troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs for train HVAC units, chillers, and cold storage.
• Strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills; ability to resolve issues under operational conditions.
• Certified refrigerant handling and adherence to environmental and safety regulations.
• Familiarity with railway maintenance standards is an advantage.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors, ensuring technical reliability.
• Commitment to safety, precision, and maintaining the highest standards of performance in a luxury rail environment.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out preventative and mandatory maintenance across on-board systems.
• Troubleshooting issues in real time to minimize downtime.
• Manage spare parts and consumables; track stock levels and reorder when needed.
• Coordinate with internal staff, contractors, and project managers for set up and operation of technical systems.
• Forecast and execute maintenance schedules to align with operating plans.
• Support ongoing safety and quality initiatives onboard the train.
