Overview:
- This role is to manage the entire Logistics and Warehouse function, emphasizing on-site Distribution, Storage, and Warehouse operations. It also entails overseeing third-party logistics (3PL) processes carried out by the team. Core responsibilities include transportation planning and execution, managing pallets, supervising warehouse activities, and ensuring proper control of the conversion budget and associated costs. The Manager is accountable for optimizing product movement, implementing cost-efficient transportation strategies, and ensuring strict adherence to Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) and Health & Safety (H&S) regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Core Functional
- Lead Warehouse and Transportation planning, routing optimization, and execution to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Oversee pallet management including tracking, recovery, and utilization efficiency.
- Supervise daily warehouse operations and ensure compliance with internal standards and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align logistics operations with business needs.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supply Chain Operation and Trade Compliance.
People Management and Development
- Provide day-to-day leadership to Logistics & Warehouse team ensuring performance and capability growth.
- Conduct performance evaluations, training needs analysis, and succession planning.
- Oversee end to end Logistics & Warehouse team manpower planning, discipline, appraisal and development opportunities.
- Foster teamwork, engagement, and collaboration across the Logistics & Warehouse team.
- Implement operational policies, ensuring consistent application across Logistics & Warehouse teams.
Budget and Conversion Cost Management
- Own and manage the Logistics & Warehouse budget related to transportation, pallet movement, and onsite operations.
- Monitor and control conversion costs, ensuring alignment with financial targets and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with Finance to ensure timely provision checks and cost tracking.
- Support financial reporting and forecasting for Logistics & Warehouse operations i.e. Operations SP Yearly/monthly provision.
Continuous Improvement and Compliance
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement initiatives to optimize transport and warehouse-related expenses.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in Logistics & Warehouse processes and systems.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, customs regulations, and audit requirements.
- Integrated Business Planning (IBP) & Integrated Work System (IWS)
- Contribute actively to the IBP Supply process and IWS, ensuring Logistics & Warehouse inputs are aligned with overall supply chain planning.
- Attend relevant IBP meetings and provide updates on transport, pallet, and warehouse operations.
- Collaborate with all internal stakeholders to ensure Logistics & Warehouse readiness supports demand and capacity planning.
- Support scenario planning and decision-making through accurate Logistics & Warehouse data and insights.
Leadership and People

Health and Safety
- When a team member is injured, the manager will be required to manage in conjunction with our insurers the injury management, compensation and return to work processes.
- A manager will report and manage the outcomes of any incident.
- A manager will lead and participate in Health and Safety activities such as Health & Safety walkarounds, hazard identification and risk assessment processes in line with Company procedures and processes.
- A manager will comply with responsibilities as detailed in the Health & Safety management system.
- The manager will identify and report all hazards and incidents.
- The manager will participate fully in the Health & Safety improvement process.
- The manager will co-operate fully in any injury management process to ensure full participation in the workforce after cleared fit for duties by a registered medical practitioner.
Food Safety and Quality
- The employee will be familiar with and comply with all aspects of Fonterra’s food quality systems, policies and processes.
- The employee will identify and report all food safety and/or food quality hazards or breaches.
- The employee will report any instance of suspected and/or confirmed contagious/infectious diseases, which has the potential to implicate food safety, including any instance of vomiting, diarrhoea, or blood borne infections. This includes, but is not limited to, any local regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in logistics, warehouse operations, or supply chain management.
- Experience in managing teams and leading cross-functional operations.
- Proficiency in working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle), or other relevant logistics software.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, transportation, and distribution systems.
- Advanced skills in data analysis, demand forecasting, and budgeting.
- Ability to handle compliance requirements, including international shipping regulations, safety standards (OSHA), and environmental policies.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities to motivate staff and resolve conflicts.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills to coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and carriers.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment.
