Company Description

Bosch has been present in Malaysia since 1923, represented by Robert Bosch Sdn Bhd. In Malaysia, Bosch operates in four sectors: Mobility Solutions, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology. The company has three manufacturing sites and R&D offices in Penang, producing automotive electronics, power tools, and steering systems. A fourth plant with a testing centre for sensors and semiconductors is under construction, expected to commence production in 2023. Bosch Malaysia generated RM 518.4 million in sales in 2020 and employs over 4,000 associates.

PgP5 Plant is Bosch Group’s newest expansion in Malaysia, a semiconductor test site in Batu Kawan, Penang. Construction began in May 2021, with initial production scheduled for 2023. This facility will focus on final testing of semiconductors and sensors, mainly those manufactured at Bosch’s Dresden facility, and will include R&D and training facilities.

Job Description

Main responsibilities include:

  1. Planning, implementing, and managing the overall supply chain strategy.
  2. Collaborating with suppliers and logistics service providers (LSPs) to optimize processes.
  3. Identifying and mitigating potential disruptions in the supply chain.
  4. Selecting and managing transportation providers (carriers, freight forwarders, etc.).
  5. Negotiating transportation rates and contracts.
  6. Optimizing shipping routes and schedules to meet lead times.
  7. Ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods.
  8. Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations (e.g., customs, import/export laws, safety regulations).
  9. Identifying opportunities to reduce logistics costs and improve efficiency.
  10. Analyzing logistics data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  11. Developing and implementing cost-saving initiatives in collaboration with GS and PUR.
  12. Conducting LSP performance reviews in collaboration with GS.
  13. Implementing environmentally sustainable logistics practices.
Freight & Transportation
  1. Providing logistics expertise on transportation and freight.
  2. Offering optimal solutions per LSP contractual lanes.
  3. Serving as Plant PIC for freight-related topics.
  4. Leading the logistics team to manage and control costs.
  5. Collaborating with GS on LSP KPIs and performance.
  6. Being the iSTAR key user for cost monitoring and approval.
  7. Key contact for tendering processes with LSPs.
  8. Managing and monitoring LSP performance.
Project / Relocation
  1. Leading transportation activities, especially air freight sourcing.
  2. Advising on optimal logistics and transportation solutions.
  3. Supporting PO issuance.
  4. Serving as Plant PIC for logistics topics related to projects or relocations.
Customs / Compliance
  1. Ensuring exemption lists are current.
  2. Applying for exemptions or special requests as needed.
  3. Advising on import/export regulations and compliance.
  4. Handling customs-related topics (license renewal, special applications, etc.).
  5. Providing advice on Certificates of Origin (CoO) and trade compliance (FTA, etc.).
Indirect Packaging (LOD)
  1. Collaborating with PUI and LOD teams in Germany on packaging improvements.
  2. Improving packaging quality in collaboration with suppliers.
Qualifications

Masters or Degree in Logistics and Management studies.
