Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a litigation associate to assist Partner and Senior Associates in managing a mix of recovery, general litigation, and corporate disputes in Malaysia. You will support case managements, hearings, and trials with minimal supervision, while maintaining file progress, reporting, and research.

The role requires strong communication, reliability, and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• At least three (3) years of experience in litigation will be prioritised.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude, responsible and trustworthy.
• Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist Partner/Senior Associates in managing litigation matters, including recovery cases, contentious general litigation disputes, and corporate and commercial disputes.
• Assist Partner/Senior Associates in attending Case Managements and Hearings, and conduct trials with minimal supervision.
• Monitor the progress and management of each file and prepare relevant reports and updates.
• Conduct extensive legal research on matters handled.
• Draft and file pleadings, appeals, motions, notices, and other court documents.
• Ensure compliance with applicable procedural and evidential rules, including document format, content, and filing requirements.
• Conduct authority and fact cite-checking, verify case citations and quotations, and proofread legal documents.
• Assist with trial preparation, including organising trial bundles, exhibits and witness schedules, maintaining trial calendars, and liaising with opposing counsel and court staff.
• Prepare post-trial filings, including submissions, applications for costs and other necessary applications, and assist in preparing matters for appeal where required.
