What's the role?

As a Linux Engineer, you are part of our global Compute & Operating Platforms team, based in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). You get to work in an agile Global IT Enterprise Platforms team, with a focus on Linux Server operating systems engineering.

What does the role involve?

In this role you get an opportunity to:
• Play a key role in maintaining and developing the server operating platform portfolio of Hilti.
• Leverage your experience and know-how to ensure we maintain an evergreen landscape.
• Take advantage of the latest innovations in the field, while adhering to the industry best practices and security standards.
• Be involved in all stages of the operating system’s life cycle; starting with engineering the new operating system adhering to Hilti’s standards, taking ownership in supporting application owners and daily operations, ending with the life cycle replacement and decommissioning of the servers.
• Work closely with architecture and cybersecurity teams, as well as vertical IT teams representing our business stakeholders to understand and meet their requirements.
• Collaborate with other engineers in the team and lead Linux Server engineering activities and take responsibility for its performance.

What you need is:

• Degree or Master's in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working in senior Linux Server operating system engineering roles.
• Deep knowledge in Linux scripting and managing infrastructure as a code.
• Experience in designing, planning, and implementing CI/CD pipelines. Know-how of GitLab is an advantage.
• Understanding of Linux security, advisories, and CVE, SCAP compliance.
• Preferred experience in Red Hat Satellite and Puppet.
• Know-how in Microsoft Azure cloud technologies is an advantage.
• Self-organizing personality equipped with good analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
• Open mindset for learning new infrastructure technologies, scripting and agile tools and processes.
• Excellent English communication skills with a motivation to work in a multicultural team located globally spanning multiple time zones.
