Job summary

Commerz Global Service Solutions is hiring for a senior Linux/IT operations role based in Malaysia. The position focuses on Red Hat Linux, VMware, Ansible, and security tooling, with a strong emphasis on incident management, upgrades, and cross-team collaboration.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, with exposure to global stakeholders and a focus on ITIL-aligned processes, audit/compliance, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional IT operation experience
• Plan and deploy all RHEL application servers in production
• Active maintenance and updating of productive systems
• Ensure 2nd and 3rd level support for the responsible IT systems
• Analyze and fix incidents and problems including vulnerabilities
• Experience with LEAPP-based upgrades for Red Hat Linux
• Familiarity with CyberArk, Ansible, VMware and related tooling
• Document systems and maintain asset databases
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and IT management practices
• Contribute to security tasks including patching and PAM processes

Job description

• Act as a technical escalation point for Redhat Linux issues.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production problems.

• Lead Redhat Linux patching activities and reboot coordination.

• Plan and execute Redhat Linux version upgrades using LEAPP:

o Post-upgrade Validation

• Fix security vulnerabilities identified by scanning tools.

• Work with application, cloud, and security teams.

• Support audit, compliance, and change management processes.

• Mentor and guide L1 engineers.

Education

• University/University of Applied Sciences or equivalent professional experience

• At least 5 years of professional experience

• Experience in IT operations; has own responsibility for systems and/or complex processes

Skills/Qualification

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience

• Plan and deploying all RHEL application servers in production based on the defined processes

• Active maintenance and updating of productive systems

• Ensure 2nd and 3rd level support for the responsible IT systems

• Analyze and correct incidents and problems (cancelations, cross-country skiers, vulnerabilities etc.) while learning advanced troubleshooting techniques.

• Practical experience with LEAPP-based upgrades for Red Hat Linux.

• Expertise in using the Red Hat Suite, including Ansible, Satellite, OpenShift, Insights, and similar tools.

• Strong skills in shell scripting (BASH) and utilizing regex for pattern matching and data manipulation

• Documentation of the systems used (Asset Database)

• Familiarity with CyberArk

• Experience using ServiceNow and JIRA.

• Experience working in an agile environment.

• Develop general Cloud Technology knowledge and provide support for RHEL on Azure, GCP, and Google BMS platforms in collaboration with peers.

• Strong knowledge and expertise in virtualization technologies, particularly VMware.

• Familiarity with Python, Git, CI/CD (like TeamCity, Jenkins...), Programming Vendor APIs such as Red Hat Satellite API, Azure, GCP or VMware APIs, MS Defender for Endpoint Linux

• Deploy all RHEL application servers based on the defined processes

• Understanding of ITIL processes and experience in IT management based on ITIL.

• Contribute to security tasks, including SIEM monitoring, security patching, and PAM processes, under guidance.

• Handle MS Defender predefined tasks (Configuration changes, Scan defect resolution, Network failures) and elevate as needed.

• Certified in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHCSA / RHCE)

• Programming of scripts and batch runs for the automation of the system sequence

• Actively participate in server migration projects with team support and gradually contribute to their execution based on experience.

Additional preferred Skills (technical, methodology and business)

• Very good application infrastructure experience

• Experience with programming vendor APIs such as Red Hat Satellite API, Azure, GCP, or VMware APIs is considered beneficial. Familiarity with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint on Linux is an added advantage but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with basic OpenShift administration

• Good understanding of IT architecture concepts.

• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and its processes.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Familiarity with agile working methods and practices.
