Job Responsibility

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patrons, including partners, lawyers and pupils in locating legal texts, case law, statutes, and other law-related materials.
  • Check materials in and out using the libraryâs circulation system, ensuring proper tracking of legal documents.
  • Organize and shelve legal books, journals, law reports, statutes, and library resources in accordance with legal classification systems (Dewey Decimal Classification).
  • Updating loose-leaf publications with the latest issue accordingly.
  • Assist assistant librarian in doing amendment to federal and state legislations.
  • Sort and compile the federal and state gazette and prepare for binding.
  • Help process new acquisitions, including labelling, cataloguing, and preparing legal materials for circulation.
  • Answer phones and respond to inquiries, directing complex legal questions to librarians.
  • Maintain accurate records of library transactions, legal materials inventory, and database updates.
  • Assist with maintaining digital legal resources and databases, helping users navigate online legal research tools.
  • Provide clerical support to librarians, including data entry, filing, and preparing reports.
  • Ensure the library environment remains professional, organized, and user-friendly.

Job Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Information Management or Library Science or any equivalent .
  • Familiar with library management systems, is a plus
  • Proficiency in computer use and legal research databases (such as Westlaw, LexisNexis) is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with legal staff and library professionals.
