Responsibilities
- Manage legal matters related to the company’s daily operations, including contract review, compliance, legal consultation, and dispute resolution.
- Draft, review, and revise commercial agreements, MOUs, and other legal documents to ensure compliance and minimize legal risk.
- Handle legal communications and negotiations with government bodies, clients, and vendors.
- Provide legal compliance advice regarding Malaysian laws and applicable international laws (e.g., import/export, cross-border investment, arbitration).
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes, assess business impact, and provide proactive recommendations.
- Assist in developing and improving the company’s legal risk control and compliance framework.
- Liaise with external legal counsel and advisors to support major legal matters.
- Handle employment law, compliance issues, and matters related to IP and corporate governance as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in Law; legal professional qualification (e.g., CLP, Bar, or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience in corporate in-house counsel or law firms, preferably in the manufacturing or international business sector.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian corporate law, contract law, labor law, trade regulations, and local compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with international trade law and commercial dispute resolution is highly preferred.
- Excellent legal analysis, risk assessment, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, legal drafting, and documentation skills.
- Proficient in Mandarin, English, and Malay (both written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting legal affairs for Chinese enterprises in Malaysia.
- Familiarity with cross-border legal issues and regulatory differences between China and Malaysia.
- Knowledge of ESG compliance, anti-trust, or data protection regulations is a plus.
