Job summary

A leading property development company in Malaysia is hiring a Legal Executive to draft and negotiate contracts and ensure compliance with laws. This role requires significant experience in legal practice, ideally within property development and corporate law, along with strong analytical and communication skills. The successful candidate will work independently and provide legal advice to various departments while managing the company's litigation matters.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in legal practice, preferably property development.
• Knowledge of corporate and commercial laws, property development regulations.
• Fluency in Bahasa Malaysia and English; Mandarin is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Draft and review legal documents including agreements and contracts.
• Ensure compliance with laws and provide legal guidance to departments.
• Manage litigation matters and represent the company in disputes.

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including Sale and Purchase Agreements (SPA), tenancy agreements, joint venture agreements, construction contracts, and service agreements.

Ensure compliance with all the relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in relation to property development, construction, land and corporate and commercial matters.

Represent the company in tribunal disputes and hearings relating to industrial relations and labour disputes as and when required.

Manage and coordinate on all company related litigation matters including but not limited to working with external advocate and solicitors on strategy, preparation, filings of documents, trial, hearings and all ancillary matters thereof.

Identify and advise the company on legal risks, providing practical legal solutions to mitigate potential issues.

Keep the company updated of changes in relevant laws and legislations.

Provide legal guidance and training to other departments on relevant legal issues.

Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by the company’s management from time to time.

Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in Law or equivalent.

Min. 5 years of working experience in legal practice, preferably with exposure to property development, construction, corporate and commercial laws.

Strong knowledge and understanding of corporate and commercial law, property development regulations and legal frameworks.

Detail oriented, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English. (Mandarin is an added advantage).

Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Able to work independently and pro-actively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
