The Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) Services is a newly formed department which will support the iFAST Group across a range of risk and compliance services. iFAST is searching for a motivated and proactive individual who is willing to take on the challenge in being the pioneers and setting the correct risk culture for the team. You will be tasked with supporting the Assistant Manager, Legal and Compliance in executing the responsibilities of the Legal function for iFAST Global Bank (UK). You will have the following roles and responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice to various business units and functions, such as in areas relating to contracts, intellectual property rights, employment law, dispute strategies etc.
- Draft, review and/or negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, particularly in the area of banking and financial services.
- Manage any litigation or contentious matters that may arise from time to time.
- Provide legal support on settlement negotiations, enforcement action or dispute resolution strategies.
- Monitor and advise stakeholders on possible legal risk relating to contracts, products, company strategies etc. and provide mitigation strategies.
- Instruct and manage the work of external legal counsel as needed.
- Work closely with other in-house counsels within the Group based overseas on matters of common / related interest.
- Assist in the preparation of board and shareholder resolutions, Companies House filing and corporate maintenance.
- Examine upcoming new legislation and provide an analysis of the impact to the business as needed.
- Support internal projects, product launches or customer complaints from a legal perspective.
- Additional/ ad-hoc duties may be assigned when required.
Requirements and Desired Qualities:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with a minimum 2:1 classification (Second Upper/First Class).
- A practicing lawyer with up to 2 years of post-qualification experience. Alternatively, candidates with relevant in-house experience in banking & finance will also be considered.
- Keen interest in banking and financial products and services.
- Driven, hands-on, self-motivated, and not afraid to take on new and more challenges.
- Strong ability to prioritise work independently and manage competing deadlines.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced banking environment.
- As the Senior Legal Executive will be supporting iFAST Global Bank, they will be expected to remain updated and work on matters relating to the UK banking industry and applicable regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willing to work on Malaysia Public Holiday when necessary.
- Open to travel overseas.
