A leading company in Malaysia is looking for a Legal Executive to manage various intellectual property tasks, including trademark management, compliance, and legal documentation. The ideal candidate holds a law degree and has 1-2 years of experience in IP, exhibiting strong analytical and communication skills. This role requires effective client interaction and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Role Overview: The Legal Executive will be responsible for managing, supporting, and executing various legal tasks related to intellectual property (IP), specifically trademarks, patents, and industrial designs. The position requires close coordination with internal departments, external legal firms, IP authorities, and clients to ensure compliance, efficiency, and accuracy in all IP-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Trademark and IP Management:
Handle trademark searches, filings, prosecutions, oppositions, renewals, and related procedures domestically and internationally.
Assist in the preparation and submission of trademark applications and other IP-related documentation.
Legal Documentation:
Draft, review, and revise various legal documents, including agreements, contracts, licensing documents, non-disclosure agreements, and IP assignment agreements.
Prepare statutory declarations, affidavits, and responses to IP Office actions and oppositions.
Compliance and Advisory:
Monitor compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements related to trademarks, patents, and designs.
Provide legal advice and support to internal stakeholders on IP rights, infringement matters, and related legal issues.
Client Interaction and Management:
Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates, addressing concerns, and managing client expectations.
Act as a liaison between clients, government agencies, and external legal counsel.
Research and Analysis:
Conduct legal research on IP law, precedents, and regulatory developments.
Analyze legal risks and opportunities to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain and update IP portfolios, databases, and case files.
Ensure accurate and timely invoicing, billing reconciliation, and financial tracking for IP-related activities.
Training and Development:
Support and participate in internal training programs aimed at enhancing awareness and understanding of IP rights among employees and clients.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent.
Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience, preferably within IP law.
Proficiency in written and spoken English and Malay.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Familiarity with IP management software and databases.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
