Job summary

An established public-listed manufacturing and engineering company is seeking a Legal Counsel to draft and negotiate contracts, provide legal advice, and manage litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have 4 to 6 years of relevant experience and a strong educational background in law, enhancing operational efficiency and mitigating legal risks within the organization.

Qualifications

  • 4 to 6 years of post-qualification experience, including 1 year in-house.
  • Familiarity with various contract types and corporate law.
  • Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and review contracts, providing legal advice to stakeholders.

Job description

Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and legal documents, including commercial agreements, construction contracts, service contracts, and non-disclosure agreements.

Provide timely and practical legal advice to internal stakeholders.

Assist in managing litigation matters, liaising with external counsel, and coordinating with relevant departments to gather necessary documentation and information.

Contribute to the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks and enhance operational efficiency.

Work collaboratively with other departments within the company.

Job Requirements:

  • Possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in Law from a reputable university, preferably admitted to the Malaysian Bar.
  • 4 to 6 years of post-qualification experience, including at least one (1) year in-house.
  • Familiarity with non-disclosure agreements, pre-bid agreements, construction contracts, joint ventures, consultancy agreements, service agreements, letters of award, tenancy, and tender processes.
  • Exposure to corporate, commercial, and construction law and contracts.
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing sector is an advantage.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective liaison with stakeholders.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail in reviewing and drafting legal documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality of sensitive information.
