The Legal Executive is responsible for supporting the Assistant General Counsel and Group General Counsel in carrying out the Legal Department’s functions. This role provides legal support and advice to all business units within the Hibiscus Group, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, mitigating legal risks, and facilitating effective decision-making across the organisation. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Primary Support
- Support the business development and corporate finance functions, and other corporate functions at the corporate level
- Provide general legal support as necessary on the legal aspects of the business across all business units
- Advisory
- Research on applicable laws
- Review matters and provide legal advice on contractual, commercial, and operational issues
- Draft opinions for the consideration of the Assistant General Counsel and Group General Counsel
- Draft executive summaries as required
- Dispute Resolution
- Liaise with internal teams and external solicitors, if required
- Facilitate meetings, discussions, and exchange of documents
- Prepare relevant documentation
- Draft and/or review letters of demand
- Review pleadings and other court/tribunal documents
- Manage status updates of disputes
- Contracting
- Review Contracts and Procurement deliverables including invitation to bid documents, technical evaluation reports, letters of award, letters of extension, etc.
- Participate in technical evaluations of bid submissions
- Ensure contractual documentation conforms to contracting policies and that the relevant entity within the Hibiscus Group is adequately protected with respect to liabilities, indemnities, and insurance by vetting such documentation prior to issuance
- Draft and/or amend agreements as needed by the various business units
- Education
- Assist in carrying out any awareness or education initiatives of the Legal department
- Review and update/improve contract templates
KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Qualification:
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent
- Advocate and Solicitor called to the Malaysian Bar
- Experience:
- At least 4-5 years post-qualification experience. Experience in the oil and gas industry will be prioritised.
