Job description

Provide primary legal support and advice to stakeholders on a wide variety of legal and regulatory matters, including conducting legal research and advising on developments in the payments industry.

Draft, review, and revise legal contracts such as product agreements, sales agreements, partnership agreements, and other legal, commercial, or corporate documents.

Create or enhance standardized agreements for products and services.

Monitor and analyze relevant laws and regulations, proposing necessary changes to internal policies and processes to mitigate risks and exposures.

Identify and understand issues in contracts being negotiated and gather comprehensive feedback from stakeholders.

Support the development and implementation of new policies and procedures for the company.

Assist with administrative legal tasks, including maintaining documentation, record-keeping protocols, and managing applications related to the company's intellectual property rights.

Assist in preparing periodic legal training for business units.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Must-Have:

Bachelor's Degree in Law, Professional Degree, or equivalent, and called to the English Bar or Malaysian Bar.

Minimum 3-4 years of post-qualification experience, preferably 1-2 years as in-house counsel.

Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.

Strong advocacy and communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to influence various business functions.

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in English and Mandarin, spoken and written.

Nice-to-Have:

Experience in the payments industry is a plus.

Familiarity with legal programs such as training or template contract reviews.

Knowledge of corporate M&A is a plus but not required.
